Roast Pork Dinner. Juicy roast pork with crispy crackling, roast vegetables and rich gravy.
We start the pork with high heat to get that crackling going, then cook it low and slow so it stays tender and full of flavour. It takes a little longer, but we think it's worth it.
One of those proper comfort meals that feels like a Sunday roast, ready whenever you need it.

Beef Lasagna. Slow cooked bolognese, creamy béchamel, layers of pasta and plenty of cheese.
This one is a proper labour of love. We slow cook the bolognese to build rich flavour, then layer it with creamy béchamel, pasta and cheese before sending it to you ready to finish at home. Pop it in the oven and you'll be rewarded with a golden, bubbling top and all the comfort of a homemade lasagna without having to spend hours in the kitchen.
Because it takes so much time to make properly, it isn't on our menu every week. It is available this week though, including a gluten free option.

Chicken Schnitzel and Veggies. This one comes with steamed potatoes so you can pop them in the oven or air fryer alongside the schnitzel and crisp them up into chips at home.

I know, she’s not the prettiest curry in the pot.
But gee, she punches well above her weight on flavour.
This roast pumpkin, red lentil and baby spinach curry is one I come back to again and again. It is cosy, gently spiced, full of good things, and has that lovely creamy texture from the lentils and pumpkin without feeling too heavy.
It is the kind of meal that looks humble, then completely wins you over by the second mouthful.
Vegetarian, gluten free, nourishing, and very much made for winter comfort.
Also, I promise it looks much better once it is tucked into a container with rice than it does mid-stir in the pan. 😊

Two of this week's specials came from customer requests. Every time these two items are on the menu, people always tell me they wish they had ordered more - so take their advice and don't just get one!
Steak with Pepper Sauce has been asked for a few times now, and I understand why. Tender steak, peppery gravy sauce, proper homestyle sides. It is exactly the kind of winter dinner you want to come home to.
Lamb and Rosemary Pie was also requested, so that is back too. Tender lamb, rosemary and veggies in a rich gravy, wrapped in golden pastry. Regular and gluten free available.

A few weeks ago, I came home from IKEA convinced Swedish Meatballs needed to be on the menu. My youngest firmly disagreed - suggesting roast pork instead, which we ended up having.
I let it go. I moved on. Or I thought I had. I keep thinking about the little meatballs on the mash, smothered in that creamy gravy... little bursts of brightness from the peas....
Then, another customer emailed last week and asked about Swedish Meatballs too, and I decided to take it as a sign. So here they are, finally on the menu.

This message really stayed with me, because it is very close to home.
In many ways, this is where Open Sauce Kitchen began. Before it was a business, it was me cooking extra meals for Dad and his partner, and worrying about whether they had enough proper food in the house.
Not just anything to eat, but meals they would actually enjoy. The kind of food they would have cooked for themselves if they still could. Homestyle meals with enough protein, vegetables and goodness to help them keep living well at home for as long as possible.
So when Paul shared this with us, I knew exactly what he meant.
As people get older, eating well can become more complicated than it used to be. Energy, appetite, health, confidence, pride, transport, grief, and not wanting to make a fuss can all play a part.
For us, the heart of it is making real, homestyle food that people will actually want to eat, and making it a little easier for families to help the people they love stay well fed at home.
