Master Thinking and Behaviour
Why do we focus so much attention on Other People’s Opinion (OPO)?
It is interesting how we tend to always seek clarity from others perspectives, their likes and dislikes - be it through body language, vocal approval or even just an observation of their initial reactions.
Could it be because we lack such self-confidence to believe we are making the right decisions or performing at a suitable standard?
We learn and develop our individuality through a combination of influences in life. Parents, teachers, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers have an impact on us. Taking into consideration the cultural traditions, social beliefs and stereotypes, there is a lot that we have to digest to determine our own right from wrong.
One essential concept of learning sometimes forgotten or barely emphasised is belief in oneself. Confidence that we have the ability to acquire knowledge and an understanding to the level that enables us to make our own informed decisions.
What ever happened to the notion “trust in yourself”?
Take note of your own behaviour over the next few days and see how you fair on the scale of self-confidence. You may find that recognising your own abilities will lead to a higher level of happiness in general.
