This will only be relevant to those who may by a domain name by Back Order one day.

** bit of a nerdy post this one **

If you see a domain name you like and it's not available for purchase but you can see that it will be in a few days/weeks. You can Back Order it. (Even if it's not available for years) There is around 3 hours between when a domain name is no longer owned and when it becomes available publicly. So you're best bet is to Back Order.

DONT USE GO DADDY FOR BACK ORDERING DOMAINS!!
So I looked up this domain that I like on Go Daddy and hit "back order". Then I read elsewhere that if Go Daddy gets the domain, and technically you should get the domain, they put it up for public auction first! What?! So you have to wait and bid all over again? Doesn't make sense to me.

There are various other companies out there that don't do this. They all have different fees, some charge before you bid and some after. Some companies have better reputations than others. I don't have enough experience with this to comment further. But DO NOT use Go Daddy, apparently!
