What the hell is net zero maaate?
Net Zero: What It Actually Means for Australia
You hear the term "Net Zero" everywhere, but what does it actually mean? And why does it matter for us?
In a nutshell:
Net Zero = The balance between the greenhouse gases we put into the atmosphere and the gases we take out.
Think of it like a bathtub. For decades, we've been turning on the taps (burning fossil fuels, industrial processes) and filling the tub. The goal of Net Zero is to turn the taps down to a tiny trickle, while also opening the drain to remove water at the same rate.
What's the "Net" part?
We'll likely still have some emissions from hard-to-change sectors like agriculture or heavy transport."Net" means we balance these remaining emissions by actively pulling carbon out of the atmosphere - through planting forests, restoring landscapes, or using new technologies.
So, is this achievable for Australia?
Absolutely. We have the sun, the wind, the space, and the smart people to become a world leader in clean energy. It's less about sacrifice and more about seizing our biggest economic opportunity this century.
Itโs about balance. And it's a goal well within our reach.
What's your Thoughts? Drop them below! ๐

Esoterica Glitchcore: The Beginnerโs Guide
๐คท What Is It?
Esoterica Glitchcore is a fusion of mysticism, retro-futurism, and digital distortion.
Think ancient symbols + neon tech + controlled chaos.
๐งโโ๏ธ Core Vibe
Mystic signals (sigils, runes, coded shapes)
Glitch energy (RGB splits, pixel tears, VHS noise)
Hybrid worlds (old meets new, physical meets digital)
Perfect imperfections (errors as art)
๐ Signature Look
Colors:
Neons, metallic chromes, thermal gradients, holographic glitches.
Textures:
CRT scanlines โข pixel drift โข corrupted holography โข VHS static
Composition:
Asymmetry โข central symbol โข layers of distortion โข glowing accents
๐จ How to Create It (Beginner Steps)
1. Start with a simple base image.
2. Add glitch distortion (filters, overlays, splitting channels).
3. Layer in symbols or shapes to create meaning.
4. Add color gradients + glow.
5. Finish with noise and texture.
๐ฎ What It Represents
A visual language about hidden truths, broken signals, and spiritual noise inside a technological world.
๐ฃ How It Began
Esoterica Glitchcore started as an experimental fusion between mystic symbolism, digital distortion and of course, elements of glitchcore. DAT4GHOST developed the style by blending ancient esoteric shapes with futuristic tech aesthetics, creating a visual language that feels both ancestral and cybernetic. The early artworks focused on revealing meaning through glitches - treating digital errors as portals to hidden knowledge.
I am currently working on an ebook which I'll turn into a hard cover over the next year but I go quite deep into detail in the writings so I thought I'd do a little intro/one pager.

๐ What Exactly is Ozone - and What Happens When Air Pollution Rises?
1๏ธโฃ Quick Definition
Ozone (Oโ) is a gas made of three oxygen atoms. It forms naturally high up in the atmosphere and protects life on Earth from the Sunโs harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.
2๏ธโฃ The Science Bit
There are two kinds of ozone:
Stratospheric ozone (the good kind): high in the atmosphere, it blocks UV radiation.
Tropospheric ozone (the bad kind): forms near the ground when pollutants from cars, industry, and fires react with sunlight.
When pollution increases, thereโs usually more of this lower-level ozone - and thatโs when problems start.
3๏ธโฃ Pollution and Ozone Formation
Pollutants like nitrogen oxides (NOโ) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) mix with sunlight and oxygen, producing ground-level ozone.
This type of ozone isnโt emitted directly - itโs chemically created by sunlight acting on these pollutants.
4๏ธโฃ How This Affects Plants and Photosynthesis
Ozone is a strong oxidant - it damages plant tissues and interferes with the process of photosynthesis, where plants turn sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into energy.
When ozone levels rise:
๐ฟ Stomata (leaf pores) absorb ozone โ it breaks down inside leaves, forming reactive molecules that damage cells.
๐ Chlorophyll and enzymes are affected โ reducing the plantโs ability to make sugars.
๐พ Growth and yield decrease โ crops, forests, and even grasslands can suffer.
๐ฌ๏ธ Less COโ uptake โ weakened photosynthesis means plants absorb less carbon dioxide, which can feed back into climate change.
5๏ธโฃ Real-World Example
Studies show that high ground-level ozone can reduce crop yields (like wheat and soybeans) by up to 10โ20% in heavily polluted areas.
6๏ธโฃ The Big Picture
Clean air doesnโt just mean healthier lungs - it means healthier ecosystems.
Less air pollution = stronger ozone layer above, cleaner air below, and better photosynthesis all around. ๐ฟ

On a serious note:
Most people see a problem.True innovators see a system - and build a new one. Few embody this like Boyan Slat.
What most don't know is that The Ocean Cleanup's success isn't just about catching plastic. It's about a brutal, years-long commitment to iterative engineering. They embraced public failure as a data point, not a defeat. Each version of their system was a hypothesis tested in the harshest lab on Earth: the open ocean.
That philosophy is what inspires me: Proving the possible. Itโs not about a single magic light bulb moment. It's about building a platform that can learn, adapt, and scale. Itโs about transforming an environmental cost into a solvable engineering problem.
This is a deep thanks to Boyan Slat and the entire The Ocean Cleanup team for paving the way. You've given every ocean innovator that follows a blueprint for ambition, resilience, and systems-thinking.
