Kids anxiety bracelets. Let’s talk about them. Do they actually work?
As a kids allied health practice, what we see is that sometimes they can potentially help, especially for children who benefit from sensory or grounding tools.
But usually it’s not the bracelet itself “fixing” anxiety.
For many children, the bracelet becomes:
• a calming routine
• a comfort object
• a sensory tool
• a reminder to breathe or self-regulate
Some kids genuinely feel calmer having something predictable they can touch during stressful moments like school, social situations, bedtime worries, or overwhelm.
But if anxiety is starting to affect:
• sleep
• school
• friendships
• confidence
• family life
then an anxiety bracelet alone usually isn’t enough.
This is where it’s important to remember that anxiety in children can sometimes overlap with things like sensory challenges, ADHD, autism, learning difficulties, or emotional overwhelm.
Sometimes what looks like “anxiety” is actually a child struggling to cope with an environment that feels too hard, too loud, too stressful, or too unpredictable.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with trying calming tools if they help your child feel safer or more regulated.
But the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne anxiety guideline recommends early support and psychoeducation when anxiety begins interfering with daily life.
The bigger goal is to help your little one build emotional regulation skills, confidence, coping strategies, and support around them over time.
Parents - you’re NOT overreacting for wanting to help your child feel calmer - an anxiety bracelet can be a good start and introduction to ‘seeking help’ for a child.

“How do I actually get my child tested for ADHD?”
It’s one of the most common questions parents ask us.
Usually after months of wondering things like:
• Why is school becoming so hard?
• Why do simple routines feel exhausting?
• Why does my child seem constantly overwhelmed or distracted?
• Am I overreacting?
For many Brisbane families, the first step is speaking with a GP, paediatrician, or a child psychologist.
An ADHD assessment is NOT about putting a label on a child. It’s about understanding how their brain works so families, schools and clinicians can better support them.
If you choose to come to All About Kids, our assessment process for ADHD often includes:
• parent interviews
• teacher questionnaires
• developmental history
• attention and cognitive testing
• behavioural observations
Sometimes assessments identify ADHD.
Sometimes they uncover something else like anxiety, learning difficulties or emotional regulation challenges.
But one thing we hear often from parents afterwards is: “I finally feel like things make sense now.”
And that clarity can make a huge difference.
If you’ve been wondering whether your child may benefit from an ADHD assessment, our team is always happy to talk families through

Sometimes children walk in nervous and leave asking when they can come back.
(Usually because there were bubbles involved somewhere.)
