Thanks so much Phoenix Central Park for having Louisa, Jason and I at The Church back in December! Jason played some Reich, he and I played the title work from my recent album Some Kinda Way, he and Louisa did some of their SPEL duo vox/clarinet experiments, and all three of us did a luscious little synth/vox/clarinets improvisations. It’s such a gorgeous space, Nena, Matt and the team were all so lovely to work with, and what a lovely audience β€” so all in all, such a lovely time, thanks for having us!

π˜π˜Œπ˜Œπ˜“π˜π˜•π˜Ž π˜”π˜–π˜™π˜Œ π˜“π˜π˜’π˜Œ is one of the two main works on my upcoming album π˜šπ˜–π˜”π˜Œ π˜’π˜π˜•π˜‹π˜ˆ 𝘞𝘈𝘠. I’d started writing it in early 2019 shortly after a trip back home (I was living in London at the time) for Xmas, during which I’d made the decision to come out to my mum β€” even before doing it, just knowing I was okay enough to do so made me feel so much more like myself. The piece grew out of the simple idea of revelling in all the rich quirky-ness of the viola da gamba by layering up delays and loops, to saturate and soak in it.

When NYC-based org ChamberQUEER asked me if I’d like to contribute something to their livestreamed festival in 2020, I figured it was the perfect occasion to premiere this with my friend Shannon Luk β€” here’s a little snippet from that livestream!

You can listen to π˜π˜Œπ˜Œπ˜“π˜π˜•π˜Ž π˜”π˜–π˜™π˜Œ π˜“π˜π˜’π˜Œ in full now on Bandcamp , and while you’re there you can preorder the full album ahead of it release on 5 Dec via A GUIDE TO SAINTS
