Today in Pre Kindy, the children became Mini MasterChefs as they created their own colourful Rainbow Wraps.

As part of our learning during National Reconciliation Week, we explored Bush Tucker and learnt about the rich cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. The children looked at a Bush Tucker book, explored photos and pretend Bush Tucker foods, and enjoyed smelling and tasting Australian finger limes.

We also discussed how eating a variety of colourful foods helps keep our bodies healthy and strong. The children then chose from fresh ingredients including purple carrot, capsicum, cucumber, snow pea shoots, and cheese to create their own rainbow wraps.

Through this experience, we talked about how Australia is made up of many different cultures and communities. Just like the many colours in our wraps came together to create something beautiful, we can all show kindness and respect towards each other.

The children were very proud of their delicious rainbow creations

We had a very special visit at Treehouse Manly on Wednesday from Doctor Ben 👨‍⚕️

The children were fascinated as they learned all about what happens when we might need to visit the hospital, have a procedure, or receive a vaccination. Through hands-on demonstrations, friendly discussions, and lots of questions, Doctor Ben helped make these experiences feel less scary and much easier to understand. 💙

The children loved exploring medical equipment, learning how doctors and nurses help keep us healthy, and practicing ways to stay calm and brave during medical visits.

We also received some fantastic tips and information to share with families about preparing children for hospital visits, procedures, and vaccinations in a calm and supportive way. Thank you, Doctor Ben, for such an engaging and valuable experience for our children and educators. 🌟

International Baking Day at The Treehouse
Little Bakers Around the World🌏

Today at The Treehouse the children celebrated International Baking Day by going on a special Little Bakers Around the World adventure.

Each child received their own Little Bakers Passport and travelled to four different baking stations, collecting a stamp at each stop along the way.

At the Japan Station, located at our kitchen window, the children enjoyed fresh pancakes which they decorated with yoghurt and fresh fruit.

At our Italy Station, the children created their own bruschetta using tomato, fresh herbs and a selection of breads.

Our Australian Stop celebrated a traditional favourite, where the children enjoyed fresh damper( Bush bread) with butter and jam while learning about how damper and bush bread has been enjoyed in Australia for many years.

For our final stop we travelled to France, visiting our Croissant Café where the children spread three-berry jam onto their own mini croissants.

In addition to the baking stations, we also set up a variety of nutrition focused activity tables where children could further explore healthy eating through play and creativity. These experiences included pretend play cooking, colouring activities, cutting and pasting healthy foods, creating healthy plates, vegetable threading, and healthy eating puzzles, just to name a few.

By the end of the experience, the children proudly collected all of their passport stamps and became Certified Little Bakers!
