A BikeSA member recently contacted us after discovering that the secure bicycle cage near the rideshare pickup area at Adelaide Airport had been removed.

Adelaide Airport has confirmed to BikeSA that the cage was removed following a review of usage levels and that there are currently no plans to relocate it.

Alternative bicycle parking remains available near Southern Screening, Northern Screening and the luggage lockers in the rental car area.

Secure bicycle parking is particularly important at locations such as the Airport, where people may need to leave their bike for longer periods. It provides greater protection from theft and weather, while helping make cycling a practical transport option for passengers and airport workers.

BikeSA has written to Adelaide Airport to express our disappointment and encourage them to reconsider the provision of secure bicycle parking. We appreciate their response and will work constructively with them to explore whether a suitable outcome can be found.

Thank you to the BikeSA member who brought this change to our attention. This is one of the ways member feedback helps inform our advocacy and enables us to raise issues directly with decision-makers.

For anyone currently planning to cycle to Adelaide Airport, please be aware that the former secure cage near the rideshare area is no longer available.
