It's been a loooong time between posts as it feels like life gets busier and busier. BUT we wanted to share the heart bursty experience we're having with the Hopsital at Home program. 🏡

This winter has been brutal for Jake (and myself) with us both tag teaming almost weekly getting sick.

Jake was admitted last month to ED after choking episodes as a result of his flu.

This week he was admitted again when a standard day procedure and subsequent routine OBs checks showed that this heart rate was way too high and his oxygen levels were way too low. 😳

So they cancelled his day procedure and sent us to Emergency Department where we spent 2 nights sorting out chest xrays and heart rates and oxygen levels.

Friday saw us discharged and moving into the Hospital at Home program. This program was, from my understanding, a reaction launched from COVID but then revisited and refined following the year long works Jake and our family went through with the WCH Complaints team, Executive directors and Minster for Health.

This program now means that we access
👩‍⚕️️a morning nurse visit and doctor video consult at the same time
📞an afternoon phone call of the same
📈and a little tablet that we upload videos of Jake's vitals that is reported real time every 4 hours to Jake's dedicated nurse and doctor - who have met Jake, who know Jake and that we can also call 24/7 as well.🙌

To have the same technology, contact, expertise and in - let's face it - even better time than when in hosptial, which is always a long wait between doctors bedside visits who are constantly pulled in 50 or more bedsides needing their attention in between emergency surgeries or visits.

The system is way more efficient, so much more comfortable and much nicer to not be in the germy hopsital air with the PTSD triggering machine beeps and other patients challenges to hear. 🫤

All while we can still be comfortable at home, stay on top of our washing and still get out to walk the dog or access healthier meal options as well as our own bed. It's such a game changer 🎉 I'm so happy we had a little part of making this change for everyone who needs it to experience it. 🥰 Jakey. What a little trail blazer 🔥
