Meat consumption stayed approximately the same, but refined carbohydrates and seed oils skyrocketed.
Over 65% of the adult population in the U.S. have at least one preventable chronic health condition, including diabetes, obesity, hypertension, heart disease, and metabolic syndrome. All of these diseases are, in most cases, a consequence of dietary misbehavior. Unfortunately, the typical stigma of the potential root causes for these events doesn't work as, e.g., to***co use massively decreased, and meat consumption stayed approximately the same.
The only relevant nutrition parameter that drastically increased is processed plant products: Refined sugar, processed starches, and industrial seed oils. These are the apparent contributors to these severe outcomes.
The average life expectancy increased during these years also, which is a valid counterargument. But unfortunately, the devil is in the detail as fewer people are dying at birth because of higher sanitary standards, and therefore, the average life expectancy becomes a fragile parameter. Also, it's questionable if you should value life expectancy over life quality, from my perspective. Living as the beta version of yourself wouldn't be my preferred choice: Let me know your viewpoint on this in the comments.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from alcohol!
I don't understand why people need a scientific explanation to avoid a well-established neurotoxin, but here it is. Especially in your youth, when you build the fundament for a great life, you want to avoid any distractions that keep you from making your dreams and following your purpose. Alcohol is nothing else than an anesthetic for those that don't have anything better to follow. If drinking with your friends on weekends is what's pleasurable, the problem is not the alcohol but the lack of having something better in your life that it's worth pursuing.
Having a drink once in a while as a reward or just because you like it is nothing terrible, but if it's the happiness peak in your life, you have a much bigger problem than the alcohol itself. I have a drink maybe once or twice a year on New Year's and Christmas because I like the taste of Whiskey. What about you?

Testing is a great tool, but you should know its limitations!
Still, overrating lab results in a state that I call scientific arrogance is counterproductive. Therefore, in my daily work, I prefer to combine adequate, functional testing with my clients' subjective feedback and intuition, which is my primary indicator. Apart from its useful purpose, it's vital to understand the limitations of lab testing not to do more harm than good, whichm, unfortunately, is not the norm.
Furthermore, you can't take a lot of information from a single lab panel unless the patient is in an acute state. In non-acute states, it's essential to test consistently, for example, annually, to have helpful feedback about the fluctuations of specific parameters, giving me opportunities for concrete interventions.
