A Gran Canaria Training Camp never disappoints 🏝️☀️

First time ever I stayed in a house there and we even had a Chef with us 👨🏽‍🍳

Awesome meals, great rides and some extra fun on our private padel tennis court 🍭 (unfortunately no pics🤣)

I decided last minute to race the SuperGiroDolomiti. Finishing 2nd together with my buddy was for sure sweet but unfortunately also the maximum possible on this day. Sure I wasn’t fully recovered from my US trip 🪫but I really enjoyed racing at home with a minimum effort and actually my legs felt not too bad at all 😇

Anyway, Jack Burke was once again in a different league and secured himself an undisputed win 🎩
That some riders in the leading group had no tactical sense of racing, made it even more difficult to put the favorite a bit under pressure 🤦🏽‍♂️

All in all a nice event with a great course and with closed roads just for us cyclist 😍
The fact, that anti doping visited us after crossing the finish-line was a positive side effect 🤗

Crossing the finishline as 25th wasn’t the result I was aiming for in this years Unbound Gravel edition 🤨

In preparation I worked on everything I made wrong last year and I felt prepared and ready. Actually I had a really good day, or at least the first half of the race, where I produced very satisfying power numbers, but maybe in the end even this overcooked my system.
Because in the decisive moment where several attacks were happening my legs got heavy and I had to let go the group for a top 10 spot 😢

From there for the rest of the day (~100miles🤣) was a pure survival in Hell’s Kitchen 🥵 inbound to Emporia🏁

Have to add that the level compared to last year was so much higher. Just saying, my finishing time this year was 5min faster than last years winning time 🙃
Only to get an idea how fast gravel races are progressing at the moment 🫣

But again, I took my lesson and I promise to be back even better prepared next year 🤟🏽 love it ❤️‍🔥
