Taking a stop at plateau city? 😵💫😵💫
There’s a few potential reasons but did you know that tougher and more intense workouts burn more calories but they also might set you back in your goals.
Your nervous system gets placed under a lot of stress when you do high intensity work and for males that stress can be great to improve body composition.
For women, we’re not designed to be constantly under stress and too much stress - exercise or lifestyle factors can hold us back actually seeing any changes.
Enter the *oh so familiar* plateau despite working super hard and being super strict which I bet is familiar to you or maybe has been at some point?
More is not always better…
If I do more classes I’ll burn more calories and more fat.
But doesn’t quite work like that…
Here’s a plan to get the results you want with less effort:
Step 1. Stop doing back to back classes and making sure every workout is killer intense.
Step 2. Build destress time into your day to bring cortisol down and allow your appetite to regulate normally.
Step 3. Match your movement to your goals. If you’re wanting to add muscle, hit the gym 3-4 x MAX per week and allow the rest of the days as recovery.
If you’re wanting to lose body fat, train with a mix of low and high intensity depending on what you enjoy.
Step 4. Make sure your nutrition supports your goals so you’re not throwing spaghetti at the walls and hoping it will work.
Map out your protein carbs and fat intake and make sure you plan your plate around what you need. 💜 If you know you’re not getting optimal nutrients, consider a good quality supplementation.
